From July 18th to the 23rd nearly 250 young ambassadors from 18 countries came to the Intel Computer Clubhouse Network’s 2006 Teen Summit in Boston. The youth, ages 13 to 18, were chosen by their local Computer Clubhouse coordinators for outstanding leadership skills, technical and creative ability, and contributions to the community.

During the summit, youths worked together to address their communities’ challenges, and created computer generated animations, art, music, an E-zine, radio and video documentaries, robots, and 3-D models. While most summit activities occurred at Northeastern University, the Museum of Science hosted a "Clubhouse-to-College, Clubhouse-to-Career" Fair July 19. Summit ambassadors explored career and college options, interacted with local college representatives, and met working engineers, musicians, publishers, animators, writers, producers, programmers, and photographers.

During the Teen Summit, Members and chaperones were assigned to various working groups, or tracks, to work together on a collaborative project. The track activities at the Teen Summit were designed to have participants address community issues through their creativity and technology. The goals of the tracks were to create stronger collaborations, better our communities and inspire others around the Network.

Teen Summit participants had the opportunity to participate in an afternoon workshop to try out a new project and get familiar with technology they weren't yet familiar with. When the Teen Summit was over, we hoped that all participants would return to their Clubhouses with new skills to share and a new interest to explore.

"I would like to thank you for giving us this opportunity to attend one of the most important youth gatherings I have ever seen, it was not only a cultural and information exchange but we were all gathered to learn new technology, exchange experience and most of all sharing ideas to come up with great projects..." Suha Al-Syouf, Chaperone, Amman, Jordan

What did you like best about the Teen Summit?
>> A few answers from people who attended the Teen Summit 2006.

The best feature about the teen summit was the atmosphere which enabled members from different countries and cultures to mix to a phenomenal degree. The extent to which members interacted with each other surpassed all my expectations.

The Teen Summit has been a wonderful experience for me!! I have met a kazillion amount of people and I am lovin' it!!! I'm really going bananas over the tracks and workshops; even the traveling back and forth. Working on projects and FINISHING THEM!!!

The Summit allowed me the opportunity to learn and reflect on the journey I've passed in life on acquiring skills and also learn about the journey far ahead. I realized that what i knew was too little, now i have gained tremendously.I also met new wonderful people of my age and experienced chaperones from whom I acquired some things that are new. Learning to make a movie was the fun part that i enjoyed.
